HOT ‘N COOL is a new series of live jazz gigs curated by three of Sydney’s finest – Dan Barnett (vocals/trombone), Paul Mitchell Brown (guitar) and Andrew Dickeson (drums). These evenings will feature the very best of local, Australian and international talent for your listening and entertainment pleasure.

Sit back and relax or take the dance floor as they present a mix of standards, soulful ballads, Latin jazz and original music that’s guaranteed to make your weekend extra special.

To set the night off make a booking to dine in our Sto Lat Restaurant or pick something from the Members’  bar menu before the show.

Paul Mitchell Brown: Guitar

Paul Mitchell Brown spent his early years performing with various Sydney-based blues bands including The Nightwalkers and Bridie and the Boogie Kings and appeared with Grammy-nominated bluesman Joe Louis Walker (USA). He was a founding member of The Steve Prestwich Band (ex-Cold Chisel) and has worked extensively as a TV/film session guitarist. Paul regularly currently performs with his jazz/blues organ trio PMB3, The Don Hopkins Trio and New Orleans-style jazz band Dr Dan & the Gris Gris Combo.

Clayton Doley: Organ

The most unique and sophisticated voice in contemporary retro soul today, Clayton Doley is a giant of the Australian blues scene. Over the last 30 years, Clayton has played with a who’s who of international artists such as Joe Bonamassa, Dan Aykroyd, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram, Walter ‘Wolfman’ Washington, Harry Manx, Steve Cropper & Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn (Booker T & the M.G.’s, Blues Brothers), David Garibaldi (Tower Of Power), The Divinyls, Hubert Sumlin, Mojo Buford, Louisiana Red, Guitar Shorty, Eugene Hideaway Bridges to name a few. Clayton is a master musician, killer boogie-woogie piano player, super funky Hammond player, and a remarkable singer/songwriter who has been invited to play some of the biggest festivals in the world such as Montreal International Jazz Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Tremblant International Blues Festival, and Manly Jazz Festival.

Jodie Michael: Drums

Jodie Michael discovered a love for jazz and drums as a teenager in Wollongong and travelled to the USA with the Wollongong Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra while still a school student. She was awarded the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award in 2013 which supports the professional development of an outstanding young female jazz musician. Jodie moved to New York in 2019 to complete a Masters of Music degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) in Boston, MA. During this same period, she toured extensively, performing at both the 2019 Panama Jazz Festival and the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. Jodie returned to Sydney after her studies where she maintains an active career as a drummer and she recently became Artist in Residence at the ABC (July 2025).


GETTING TO THE POLISH CLUB ASHFIELD

LOCATION | 182 Liverpool Road, Ashfield. Pedestrian access is available from Liverpool Road only.

BY TRAIN | We’re just a 5-minute walk from Ashfield Station. Take the Brown Street exit, walk up to Liverpool Road, cross the street, turn left, and follow the short path to the Club entrance.

FREE UNDERGROUND PARKING | Enter via 73 Norton Street. The Club is accessible via lift. If the car park is full, there’s plenty of street parking nearby and enter via the front entrance at 182 Liverpool Road.

DINNER AT STO LAT RESTAURANT | Make a night of it with dinner at Sto Lat (open 5:00pm – 9:00pm). Bookings are highly recommended to avoid wait times.
