Sydney Blues Challenge

Sunday 13th September 
The Sydney Blues Society (SBS) is proud to present the 2026 Blues Challenge, with final taking place on 13 September 2026 at the Polish Club Ashfield.
 
Depending on the number of entries, heats may be scheduled prior to the main event to determine the finalists.
 
We’re searching for NSW’s and ACT’s best blues talent across two categories:
Solo/Duo
Band
 
Prizes
Winners in each category will represent SBS at the 2027 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis.
Recognising that international travel can be a barrier, each winning act will be offered one of the following prize options:
1) Memphis Prize –
Solo/Duo: up to $2,500 towards travel and expense
Bands: up to $5,000
2) Recording Prize –
Equivalent value to professionally record a blues album. Any costs beyond the SBS allocation are the responsibility of the performers.
In addition, all winning acts will receive: Festival Performance Opportunities
Opportunities to perform at selected NSW blues festivals

LOCATION | 182 Liverpool Road, Ashfield (pedestrian access available from Liverpool Road only)

TRAIN | Only a 5-minute walk from Ashfield Train Station.
Take the Brown Street exit from the station and continue up Brown Street until you reach Liverpool Road. Cross the road and turn left, then follow the short path to our doors.

FREE UNDERGROUND PARKING | Entrance via 73 Norton Street.
The Club is accessible via the lift. On days when the car park is full, there is plenty of street parking in the surrounding area, with access to the Club through the front entrance at 182 Liverpool Road.

CLUB CHECK-IN REQUIRED | Beat the rush—give yourself time to check in at reception. Members enjoy fast-track check-in by simply scanning their Member Card. Guests can check in by scanning their driver’s licence or by becoming an Associate Member. Member’s receive 10% discount on selected items & other Member privileges. Ask one of our friendly staff about Membership, and allow a few extra minutes to sign up.

FREE WIFI | The Polish Club Ashfield offers all guests free WiFi. Ask the reception staff upon arrival for the access password.
